Benefits of Being a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative

The Financial Rewards Including a Company Car

A career in pharmaceutical sales offers some of the best benefits and perks anyone can ask for in a job. Typical starting salaries are in the low $30,000s and established representatives can have base salaries in the $90,000s. Bonuses on top of that for high sales performers can easily push incomes into the six figure range. But in addition to the money, there are numerous other attractive perks in pharmaceutical sales.

One of the nicest perks that pharmaceutical sales representatives enjoy is the use of recent model company cars. These are usually midsize sedans that are leased under a company fleet program. Some pharmaceutical companies even offer minivans to their sales forces and I’ve seen reps drive sport utility vehicles as company cars too.

Company car leases are usually short term with durations of a few years only so the sales representatives end up driving relatively new vehicles all the time. Once a company car’s lease expires, the rep gets a new vehicle! All the maintenance costs such as tune ups, oil changes, gas and insurance are paid for by the company so basically the sales reps get to drive their cars for free (although for taxation purposes, the company’s payroll department may report a taxable benefit for sales force staff).

Some companies have been known to offer the vehicles that are near the end of lease terms for sale at significant market discounts. Representatives have been able to purchase relatively good condition used cars for other family members and friends at very attractive prices through such programs. Some have even resold these vehicles on the used car market for a tiny profit.

In addition to a company car, a pharmaceutical representative also has access to an expense account which enables him or her to entertain customers such as physicians on a business level whether it is for meals at nice restaurants or other for business social activities such as golf outings or attending sporting events. Of course, the rep is expected to participate with their customers at these business social activities.

The Freedom and Independence

For those individuals who do not like the idea being stuck inside with an office job, a pharmaceutical sales position offers the opportunity to spend most working hours out in the field visiting customers like physicians, nurses and pharmacists. Pharmaceutical reps have the freedom to set and organize their own working schedules. No single day is identical as different customers at different locations are visited each working day. Pharmaceutical sales involve a lot of independence, as the pharmaceutical reps’ bosses or district sales managers are usually not around 95% of the time. Therefore, there is nobody to constantly look over your shoulder most of the time for this line of work.

The Travel Opportunities

Pharmaceutical companies usually conduct sales meetings for their sales forces at nice locations, sometimes even at exotic foreign spots which give representatives opportunities to travel at the companies’ expense. Accommodations, meals and entertainment during these meetings are usually top notch. I’ve stayed at five star resorts, been on a Mediterranean cruise, took a sightseeing plane ride through the Grand Canyon, skied in the Rockies, attended live theatre in New York City, toured the ancient city of Pompeii and experienced many other interesting activities that were all paid for while working for pharmaceutical companies.

There are also opportunities for pharmaceutical representatives to attend large medical conferences which are often held at nice locations as well. Some representatives have been able to bring along spouses, partners and relatives to combine business trips with personal vacations. Again, all or a large part of the travel costs were already paid for by the company. I utilized company paid flights and extended some stays before or after company meetings for personal vacations. I was able to go scuba diving in the Egyptian Red Sea this way. I know reps who extended trips in Europe and the Caribbean in combination with company meetings.

The Satisfaction of an Important Role in Health Care

Of course along with these perks, there are other factors involved in pharmaceutical sales which can be very satisfying. Pharmaceutical reps are in a position to help educate doctors, nurses, pharmacists and medical students about their drug products along with the associated medical conditions they treat. There is some great satisfaction when a medical professional tells you that your product has made a positive difference in a patient’s health, especially when the professional never used your product before your introduction of it to him or her.

It would have been your selling efforts that caused the doctor to change prescribing habits which ultimately helped treat the patients better. This makes a pharmaceutical representative feel like an important part of the overall medical health care team. It’s a good feeling indeed when one knows that he or she is part of a company responsible for bringing a much needed medical product to society.

The Importance of Car Registration

A person cannot drive a car if he has no license. In the same manner, a car should not be driven if it’s not registered. And proof that a car has been registered with the Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV), the car’s owner is issued a registration plate, also known as license plate.

After buying a car, the owner will apply for a registration of his vehicle at the DMV and will be given a license plate marked with a series of numbers and letters. The license plate markings will depend on the state where the car is registered.

Simply put, a car registration is a material proof that the owner has complied with all the requirements in registering a car, such as paying all the necessary fees and taxes. After that, then you won’t be having any problems driving a car in highways.

Based on a federal law, a car must be registered before it can be driven. An unregistered vehicle, especially if it’s driven, is clearly a violation of such law. If upon inspection the arresting officer will find out that a car has no registration plate, it will end up being impounded. The driver will suffer too, as he will be penalized for driving an unregistered car.

The most obvious way to determine if a car has not been registered is if it has no license plate attached on the vehicle’s front and back bumper. Also, if its registration has expired and has not been renewed it will show on the license plate the most recent year it was registered. In other words, there’s no way you can get out of it.

Any law-abiding citizen is well aware of the most basic fact that driving a car without license is a violation. A driver will also put himself in a dangerous position if he drives a vehicle without registration plate while he has no driver’s license. Penalties and possible jail time will await that driver.

But there are people who take the risk of doing just that. These are the individuals who have intent on doing criminal activities. A vehicle with no or fake registration plate can never be traced by the DMV car registration system. To a good citizen, this is tantamount to committing a crime. So if you’re driving down the road and have by chance spotted a vehicle bearing no license plate, better report it to authorities.

How Cars Have Evolved

Do you ever just look at cars and wonder how they got to the point of beauty they are at now? They have come a long way since the very beginning and it’s good thing for future generations.

It’s surprising to think that the first car or automobile designed only had one cylinder. Can you imagine how slow that is compared to the cars we have now? Not to mention how much fuel consumption it might have taken due to the heavy materials.

Most of the cars designed before the WWII era were steam powered and incredibly huge. That was the time when they discovered internal combustion. It’s odd to think that the cars available to us now have the engine neatly packed into a small area of the car.

Although, they improved the earlier cars to be lightweight, they still had a few problems that would not work in the present. The wheels used to be very thin and seemed to struggle under the strain on the car. They were also top heavy so it wouldn’t won’t work well with all weather conditions. This is probably the reason why so many cars had become convertibles or had roofless mechanical systems.

Before the war they also started manufacturing cars with larger engines. This is understandable since tanks had also started becoming the major projects for automobile companies.

Another interesting aspect about the older models is that they didn’t have indicators on the sides of the car. In those days, not many people owned a car so indicating which direction you were going wasn’t a big concern on the roads.

It’s easy to find a car now that is light in weight and doesn’t consume too much power or fuel. As we have evolved so has science thus allowing us to find easier ways to live life to the maximum.

Although, not all inventions and models of cars have been smart in terms of economy.

Cars with more cylinders are likely to consumer more fuel. You often see a model with a 2.6 litre V-8 with a turbo engine. This is how much fuel your car consumes once its gone through the ignition and compression cycle of the pistons. It starts again once the gases go through the outlet. It may be uneconomical but it sure is exhilarating to drive a car that has power. However, for economical purposes the hybrid car was created. The forces and movement that power this type of car charge the electrical component in case you run out of gas.

Another type of vehicle that causes havoc to our roads but is essential for logistics are trucks. This simply due to their weight and excessive carbon emissions. But there are advancements in this area that could change the future of trucking.

Wheels and tyres have always been dynamic when it comes to automobiles. Some things that have been improved are the type of rubber used, the treading and the depth. Technology has been a great friend to us when it comes to automobiles.

What Are The Benefits Of Antifreeze Coolant And How Significant Is It For My Car?

Antifreeze Coolant

Antifreeze is a very important unit of the car since it protects the engine from the freezing damage. When the water gets converted into ice, it poses a problem for the car. Antifreeze is actually the heat transfer fluid which is used to protect the freezing. In both the solar water heaters and the HVAC chillers it is used. Chemical are added to the water in order to prevent the freezing. Antifreeze assists in the freezing point when water is mixed, but then it also aids the boiling point. It is used widely in the car engine since it is capable of transferring the heat. When the antifreeze is used to the car engine, it is termed as the Antifreeze Coolant since it cools the engine.

What is the function of the ethylene glycol?

Ethylene glycol is the most commonly used antifreeze in the car. The water-based solution functions as the fantastic heat-transfer fluid. So, when the temperature reaches below the level of 32 degrees of Fahrenheit or 0 degrees. The fluid transfers the heat to prevent freezing. When the unit functions by the water-cooled engine, the coolant is used. Commonly used in the machines and the cars, the coolant cannot be used in the food processing equipment. This is so because if there is any leaking, the food can become poisonous. The Ethylene Glycol is used widely in the cars, machines, air conditioners and even the liquid cooled computer. Since the solution has the low freezing point, it resists the freezing. Ethylene Glycol has a great compatibility with water and has the higher boiling point.

The need for the antifreeze in extreme climatic conditions

Antifreeze is the real savior of the vehicle when it is cold. The water as a result of the antifreeze does not freeze. The water in the radiator of the car will not freeze and so the parts of the car will not get destroyed. When the outside temperature is hot also, the antifreeze is of great use. It even restricts the important fluids in the car from evaporating. Since the antifreeze has the lubricating properties, it does not evaporate with the pace of the water. In fact, the parts of the car like the hose pipe need to be prevented from damage.

The environmental friendly precious green liquid

The antifreeze coolant is a must if you really want the vehicle in the running condition. The environmentally friendly, precious green liquid will keep the car parts warm even when it is extremely cold. Without the antifreeze, the car will encounter a mechanical problem. When the car stops working due to freezing, many people think that it is all due to the leakage of the radiator, the failure of the heater core and even due to the opening or closing of the thermostat.

When it is winter, you need to start and stop the car to keep the engine warm. In countries where there is extreme cold, the engine needs to be started from time to time. When it comes to the car system, the antifreeze solution is vital.

The American Made Rolls Royce Auto – Not a Success Story

At one point in time the venerable prestige Rolls-Royce fine motor cars were made and manufactured in the U.S.A. – the United States of America. However this early example of marketing and production offshore and off home base was doomed to failure.

A bare six months after the signing of the historic contract between Charles Rolls and Henry Royce the export drive of Rolls-Royce was on its way. Early on in September 1906 Charles Royce was on his way to the United States, taking with him four cars as samples of the company’s wares. One of these cars was sold almost as soon as it was unloaded; one went straight away to Texas. The remaining two vehicles served as sales and marketing vehicles – an example of the fine craft and attention to detail that the company become world famous and known for. One of the cars was kept on the road as a demonstration model, while the other was put on display at the New York Auto Show. That first appearance at the auto show was a great success for Rolls Royce as well: an additional four orders were taken for new cars. As well an American distributor jumped to the plate.

Business grew for Rolls- Royce in America to the point that in the 12 month period before the beginning of the First World War, fully 100 vehicles were sold. By this time the owners and management of the firm had come to the conclusion of the great sales potential for Rolls-Royce motorcars in the United States. Judged on current trends and market sales information and experience, they came to the conclusion that the American market for their fine products was larger and richer than anything that they could expect to attain in their home market and current manufacturing domain – England. Import restrictions and tariffs would be the limiting factor for Rolls-Royce in terms of both added costs to the final price of the car to American consumers, who would have to absorb the import tariffs on their vehicles and the profitability of Rolls-Royce in America.

The die was cast. As promptly as possible American manufacturing facilities were set up. This was to be a full Rolls-Royce manufacturing facility in America. A factory itself was purchased in Springfield Massachusetts. Manufacturing was promptly commenced under the direct supervision of none other than Henry Royce himself. Production was done mainly by local workers, aided and supervised by a fleet of 50 tradesmen from the British Derby factory itself. These British workers actually physically immigrated to America permanently with their families as well.

Production at this Springfield plant commenced in 1921 with Rolls-Royce firmly stating that the product from this auto plant would be the equal of anything built at the home plant located at Derby England. The plan was that parts would be shipped and assembled in the US with custom made coachwork made by existing prestigious American firms. Interestingly enough over time the number of items made locally in the US, as opposed to Britain, began to actually increase, not decrease. However the consistency of the product, in terms of product line and actual product began to deviate from the strict British made product. Only the first 25 rolling chassis were actually identical to the Derby England factory items. As time went on there were more and more deviations from the strict British product. Some of this may be due to the personal preferences and procedures of the different local American coachbuilders. After each was a premium established firms with distinct products, styles and methods previously. Some was due to the requests from the American customers, their ability to individualize and personalize their American made car to their individual preferences and styles.

What did in the American Roll-Royce? For one thing cost. Substantial costs were incurred in converting the cars from right hand British drive to left hand American. As a result of the increased costs incurred, the selling price of these American made Rolls-Royces was not nearly as competitive to other automotive products available on the U.S. market for prestige automotive products. Next the primary U.S. coachmaker for Rolls-Royce, the Brewster Coachbuilding firm, fell into financial difficulties. Then along came the 1929 stock market crash. The American Rolls-Royce might of continued save for one major marketing blunder. The British parent firm introduced a dynamite model – the Phantom, The car was not made in the US nor even made available, by import of 100 cars, till a year later. The car had great reception with the prestige auto market in the USA. However by the time it was decided to manufacture this hit product to meet the American demand the actual Phantom model was replaced by an ultra high tech and sophisticated model – The Phantom II. With the retooling costs incurred the calculation was that each American Rolls-Royce Phantom II car unit produced and sold would cost the company an astounding 1 million to produce in comparison to the 1929 customer price threshold for luxury prestige automobiles of only $ 20,000.

The fate of Rolls-Royce American manufactured products was sealed. The firm honored the last 200 orders for their cars. By 1935 these orders were completed and delivered to their customers.

That was the ending of the Rolls-Royce experiment of producing an American made prestige car product.

· Used Harley Davidsons are cheaper.

Well, resale value of some Harley models can be as high as its original price. But, there are several models that can buy for less. There are several sites online where you can find cheap but high-quality Harley Davidson models.

· Rare Harleys are Used Harleys

Don’t Buy a Car From a Tote The Note Dealership

I have been all around the car business for years and I hate to see people make mistakes that hurt them in the end. Simply buying a car from a tote the note dealership is a terrible waist of money, it is always overpriced and does nothing but damage your credit report. The reality is that there are ways to get a car with the same qualifications that a tote the note lot wants you to have. The difference is it will be reported to all the major credit bureaus and usually has a warrantee to give you a piece of mind.

This is how a tote the note lot works, they shop used car auctions and buy cars that major dealers don’t want, usually for under $3000. Most of the time they don’t even dive them if the seller (another used dealer) says that it is good. Then they put it on their lot for $5999, yes that much profit. The reason is simple your down payment is usually about half or all of what they have spent on the car. Then your payments for the next 4-5 years are mostly, or all profit for them, but does nothing for you. In the next four or five years if you have a car problem you are just stuck in a bind. If you call the lot they say it is not their problem, or they say they will have their shady-tree mechanic fix it. Then extend your note so they can make some more money from you. If you can’t afford to fix it you still have to pay or they will repo it, and most times report it onto your credit report. That’s the problem they only report if you default on your credit report. They don’t report all the payments on time you made. They don’t want your credit to get any better so that you and others have to come back and buy cars from them. Then they take that same car and sell it to somebody else, and guess what, this time it is all profit. There is a better way.

There are some major dealerships (Dodge Chevy Ford) that have special finance programs that work especially with people with poor credit, or even no credit and even without a cosigner. The way this works is a car is traded in, and the dealership has their service station inspect it. They load the info like miles, condition, make and model into a program and the special finance lender determines the price. That way you can’t get overcharged. The reason is that the lender does not want to repo the car and have to resale it. That’s why they will usually give you a 2-3 year payment around 250 mo so that you can pay it off quick. Usually they like to cover it with a warrantee for special finance customers. Just incase your car breaks down you will be able to have it fixed and continue your payments.

Here is the best part, a special finance company will report to the bureaus every month of your on time payments, that will start to raise your credit score. All you need is six months to a year of on time payments on your report, and then a regular lender will give you a shot. A major dealership wants your credit to get better so you can comeback and buy again.

“But I went to a major dealership and they embarrassed me about my credit.” you say, not all major dealerships deal with special finance. There is an even easier way; you can apply for your financing online, with special finance lenders. Then you never have to worry about the public rejection of the dealership, and they never see your credit. Most companies will approve you instantly or in 24 hours. You can print your approval out and go and shop like everybody else.

If you need some special finance lenders I have a few listed on my free do it yourself credit repair site [http://www.bankmortgagerelief.com/gettingstarted.htm]

Police And Emergency Vehicle Lights

There are many changes to what we used know as a police car. The conventional police lights we usually see in police vehicles during the past years have already been replaced with light bars and inside these light bars are strobe lights. The emergency lights which are used by most police cars these days actually “dance” at the top of the vehicle and these types of lights are very advantageous for the police vehicle and the other drivers that are on the road, why? First, it provides more visibility to the police who are in pursuit of a certain suspect and for the other drivers on the road the strobe light serves as a warning light that a chase is ongoing in order to avoid accidents.

One disadvantage of this kind of light is that at times it can block a driver’s vision; however the advantages actually outweigh the disadvantages. To others it can serve as a warning light when they approach the police vehicle while to some it can cause some blockage to their vision while driving. Emergency lights which are used in police cars sometimes comes in different color combination just like red, blue and white and. Some emergency lights are made of LED lights which is also very effective in emitting very bright flashes of lights.

LED lights are also used to add to the beauty of your vehicle. Construction vehicle and road service vehicle also use LED lights to warn other motorist that a construction is ongoing, especially during the night. However, if you are planning to install one in your vehicle you have to see to it that it is not as the same color as to the one which is used by the police vehicles, even though in most states the traditional red police lights have already been replaced by many different color combination; the red flashing lights are still used by many different emergency vehicles like ambulance, fire trucks and the like. You might be wondering why you can’t use the red LED warning light. Basically because it will just confuse other drivers if a chase is ongoing or is it just a construction or road service vehicle.

It is actually very important for the police vehicles in different states to use the same color scheme, for the main purpose of avoiding chaos. For example, if you see a police car that is flashing green and orange lights you might get confused if it really is a police car or not. However, for unmarked police cars using different color from the usual is really an advantage for them.

Aftermarket, OEM, OE Auto Parts Explained

Aftermarket, OEM, replacement parts–you see these words in almost all auto parts stores online. What do these terms mean?

For a passive buyer, these things are but ordinary terms used in the automotive market but for someone meticulous and who wants the best for his auto, these things matter considerably. Deciding which among these to purchase is just like deciding what car to buy.

O.E.M. stands for Original Equipment Manufactured. This means that OEM Ford parts are manufactured by Ford itself, Chevrolet parts are manufactured by Chevrolet, Toyota parts by Toyota, BMW parts by BMW and so on. The terms O.E.S. and OE are also used; these mean Original Equipment Supplied and Original Equipment, respectively. While in many cases, OEM and OES mean the same, OE is more general referring to any part that came as original equipment on the car. Some of OE car parts and components are not actually made by the car manufacturer but are purchased and assembled by the automakers to create a vehicle.

Those referred to as “aftermarket auto parts” are not made by the original car manufacturer; furthermore, they are bought and added to the vehicle only at the dealership or after the vehicle left the dealership. In terms of design and function, aftermarket products are almost the same as the stock auto parts since they are primarily used to replace a damaged original part so that the vehicle can continue to run. If you need replacement parts for your car, however, you can either buy O.E.M. or aftermarket auto parts. There are numerous sources of aftermarket auto parts. Stores like Auto Parts Discount give you a great variety of parts for almost all makes and models.

Some cars, especially the base models are not completely equipped so users just add aftermarket parts later on. For example if you have purchased an old Toyota Corolla, you can add aftermarket Toyota fog lights, Toyota spoiler, Toyota turn signal light or Toyota mirrors. Aftermarket products can also help you give your car a fresh new look. Even if your original parts are not yet damaged or worn out, you can replace them with or add specially designed aftermarket auto parts like Honda taillights, Ford center cap, Chevrolet chrome bumper, and Mercedes Benz Front Cover Towing Eye found at Auto Parts Discount.

Enthusiasts, on the other hand would opt for custom parts and specialty equipments. Compared to a universal fit auto part, which can be installed to any vehicle make, year and model, custom aftermarket products are designed to fit only a particular application. Examples of custom parts are your Ford hood, Ford fender and Ford doors. Specialty equipments on the other hand, are intended to make the vehicle more stylish, comfortable, convenient and more up-to-date.

Most auto users prefer aftermarket products because they are less expensive than OEM replacements. While it is true that there may be some aftermarket auto parts that do not meet high standards of original equipments, it is not right to say that aftermarket products are generally inferior in terms of quality and style. Replacement parts sold at Auto Parts Discount, for example are made by car parts manufacturers that are mandated by high international standards.

Which is better, OEM or aftermarket replacement part? It depends on the product. Some OEM parts are not durable enough while the aftermarket parts you use to replace them could last for many years. If you want to give your car a different look and also, if you want to save, aftermarket products are worth a try. However, make sure to get these replacement parts from trusted sources.
